We celebrated the Club's 29th Birthday on 7th July. As promised NOTHING stopped us marking the occasion. Thank you so much to Cindy Joyce who as usual produced such a splendid amount of food for our Lockdown Birthday Party.
Food (and trifles especially) was very well received by all. I have had highly complimentary feedback. Despite being unable to be together for the occasion, members have very much appreciated the efforts being made to celebrate our 29th Birthday. Obviously they are looking forward to better celebrations next year!
We are still keeping in touch regularly with our members via phone calls to prevent loneliness and they are still provided with fish and chips every 2 weeks to make up for the absence of regular meetings. Thank you to Ryan at Market Hill Fisheries for his continued support.
It will be some time before we can even contemplate restarting our activities. Obviously with distancing it will be more tricky than ever and we may not be able to have everybody there at the same time. Activities will also be limited with people not able to share equipment. We may need to ask for people to bring own mug for refreshments, own pen, own dice, etc. Collecting money will also need to be done differently. Transport is going to be the biggest nightmare as 2 at most in taxi, so double the amount of cost and double the time involved. It is doubtful that we could have wheelchair users or anybody who need support for walking because of distancing.
The Co-op staff ensures that our orders are dealt with promptly. We will continue putting orders in for as long as necessary. Assisted shopping and other trips are certainly a long way away. To add to transport uncertainty we have received formal notice from Age UK telling us that they had made the decision to end their MinibusTransport Service with immediate effect.
We have a duty of care to our members and volunteers and we will only restart activities when WE believe that it will be safe to do so.
It is unlikely that we will be able to hold our Make A Difference Day on Saturday 24th October. However we have received items to put on our stall. If anyone is interested in making a donation to the Club for a large ironing board and a child high chair please get in touch by ringing 733441.
