Our application to the Big Lottery was successful. We have received £9987 to provide more outings and assisted shopping trips for our members. We have also been able to replace some of our Kurling equipment which after nearly 10 years of use was beginning to show a certain amount of wear. Our weekly Kurling sessions are held on Wednesdays at Winterton Community Pavilion. 2pm to 4pm. Sessions are open to non Club members. We celebrated our 26th Birthday Party on Tuesday 4th July with entertainment by the Fourum Harmony Quartet. A delicious buffet was served and appreciated by all. Thank you to Cindy Joyce for such a treat. Among other guests we welcomed Cllr Paul McCartan, Mayor of Winterton and Cllr Vicky Mumby, Deputy Mayor. Our treasurer had the honour to be promoted Mayor's Consort for the afternoon and we are most appreciative to Paul for this kind gesture. Our recent trip to Boundary Mill in Catcliffe provided members with the opportunity of making purchases from the Summer Sale as well as being treated to a free delicious strawberry ice cream. We are looking forward to going back there later in the year. Our Make a Difference Day will be held on Saturday 21st October from 2pm to 4pm. We are now taking bookings for both charity stalls and craft stalls. Ring 733441 for further details. Recently we got a £100 Award to hold a community fuel poverty awareness event. Our efforts have been recognised and our event will be used as case study by the Community Action Partnership in their publications and on their website to encourage other groups to undertake similar activities.
We are most grateful to all the Co-op members who have chosen us as their local good cause in the Co-op Local Community Fund. The final amount raised for the Club is £1120. We want to thank all the advertisers who have kindly supported us in financing the publication of a newsheet produced specifically to advertise the Fair. We are also most grateful to all the 19 distributors who assisted in the door to door delivery. Many thanks to Winterton Lions who were unable to attend this year but instead have made a £25 donation to be used as a raffle prize. We would also like to thank All Saints Church after receiving items from their recent Fair. As usual refreshments were provided by Winterton Methodist Church ladies and they didn't disappoint yet again serving their renowned scrumptious cakes! The money is to be used to deliver a community fuel poverty event in Winterton. This will be held on Saturday 18th March, between 2pm and 4pm at Winterton Trinity Methodist Church Hall.
