Our Charity Fair should have been held on Saturday 25th April 2020 but sadly had to be cancelled. Groups who had booked tables have been contacted and will gladly join us when we are able to set up another date for the Fair. I am well aware that this is a great loss for all who rely on such occasions to raise much needed funds and I will do my very best to organise an event as soon as life returns to normal.
In the meantime we have ensured that all our members are safe, that they have enough provisions and most importantly we are keeping in touch regularly via phone calls to prevent loneliness during this enforced isolation. Our members have been sent some "homework" in the shape of pictures to colour. It is the intention to have a small exhibition when we can resume our activities. Indeed, when this is all over we will have a jolly good knees up!
Our AGM should be held on Tuesday 2nd June but will have to be postponed for the foreseeable future. It is also a fact that our financial year end accounts will not be ready to approve due to the Coronavirus restrictions which are preventing documents to be handed over to our financial examiner. We are obviously applying Charity Commission guidance by keeping strict record of decision made.
We are most grateful to Ryan at Market Hill Fisheries who despite having to stop operating due to staff shortage is still sending us fish and chips once a week when he needs to fire his fryers. This is the highlight of the week for all our members. Thank you Ryan, you are a gent!
The Coop staff have been absolutely brilliant too, ensuring that our orders are dealt with promptly and trying to fulfill them in the best possible manner. On the shopping front too I want to thank Carole Harrison (volunteer and Disabled Club committee member) who has been a star at getting supplies unavailable locally. She is a massive help.
Our members are also Poirier Foundation members and both charities are working closely to ensure that life is as comfortable as possible for everyone on our lists.
